Story
Greetings
As some of you may be aware, our son Thomas has recently been diagnosed as suffering from a rare chromosome disorder which among other things, prevents him from speaking, and from communicating at a level expected of a 5 year-old.
Having gone through 5 years of anguish trying to understand the nature of Thomas' troubles, we are relieved to finally know what causes his problems. The diagnosis also means we are now in contact with a support network of like-minded families going through similar issues to those we face.
Thomas' disorder impacts his speech and his general development, but provides us with the most loving, sweet-natured and humourous little boy imaginable. Not every family will be in such a position.
Unique is a source of information and support to families and individuals affected by any rare chromosome disorder and to the professionals who work with them.
Although we have only recently come to know of Unique, we are sure that they will be a great source of information and support over the coming months. With that in mind, we would like to "put something back in" before we've taken too much out. That's why I've agreed to run in the BUPA 10k race in London on Monday 25th May .... in the vague hope that some of you will overlook your fund-raising fatigue and pay me to put myself through 50 minutes or so of pain.
Please sponsor me if you can.
To find out more about Unique and the amazing support they provide, check out www.rarechromo.org
Finally, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank anyone who does sponsor me and for taking the time to visit this page.
Thank you
Neil
