Story
April 2007
My dear old dad has a massive heart attack out of the blue : bang, dead, gone.
April 2009
I’m going to run the London Marathon for HEART UK in his memory and I’m sure you’re going to help me get round by sponsoring me.
I can hear him now, “Running ? Running where ? That’s a bloody stupid idea – You’ll just hurt yerself…” Well, pain notwithstanding, I’ll be doing just that on 26th April.
Many of you have already promised to come and cheer me on (I’ll need it, thanks) but the aim is filthy lucre, hard cash, dirty money, rather than getting me round the course.
So, come on people, pile in the cash : a tenner less spent on your booze, pizza, cigarettes and a tenner more spent by the good people at Heart UK on preventing heart disease – think how good you’re going to feel.
I’m aiming for a time of 4 hours and while I’ve done plenty of running in the last 3 years, this is marathon number one, so you get sponsoring and I’ll get training.
In advance, many, many thanks for supporting Heart UK and me.
And as the Doc was fond of saying, “See y’efter”.
