Severn Hospice - Pontesbury Potter · 12 March 2011 ·

Severn Hospice provides specialist care and emotional support for families in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales living with an incurable illness. All our care is provided for free, but it is not without cost - we have to raise £2 for every £3 we spend. It's because you care that we can.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I decided last year that having spent most of my life avoiding excercise and making eating KFC look like an olympic sport that it was time for a change. I was almost 30 and although I wasn't obese I was definatley unfit. I agreed to play football socially and after 10 minutes was pretty much ready to collapse. I vowed that things had to change and took the extreme action of learning to run despite running being my most hated form of physical excercise.

Over the coming months, I trained, I hurt (lots) and then I trained some more and things are slowly starting to come together.

I signed up to the Pontesbury Potter last year, a 13 mile mystery hike that takes in the landscape of Pontesbury and surrounding area wondering how much I could run.

I'll be honest here folks ... I completely forgot it was coming up and through illness and injury my training has gone somewhat out of the window. So what seemed pretty achievable is now seeming like a marathon (or half marathon if you're going to be specific ...). I'm planning on doing the Potter as a "Rumble" (part Run and part Ramble). I'm really hoping that I can run at least half of the route and that I can complete the course in under 3 hours although if i'm honest ... I'll be happy if I can just finish the course

So please dig deep and donate now, every little bit helps no matter how small. All donations are going to help the wonderful people at Severn Hospice who do such great things and don't get nearly enough praise.

Thanks so much
