Story
April 24th : 24 hours later ....
Hi folks,
It happened. It's official. You can even check it out at ..
http://www.lochaberac.co.uk/newpages/results%20pages/marathon2006.html
Rob, who laughs in the face of conventional training schedules, ended the day mid-table having completed the race in a fine 3h 50m while John had a competitive half-marathon time & a significantly worse second half-marathon time ; sadly they insisted on adding them together & 4h 11m was the recorded time with a placing of 285th (YES there were more than 285 runners!). There's no doubt that after all those tortuous feed negotiations Gerard undertook with Scottish Sea Farms he's definitely had the last laugh. I'm also pretty sure he kept moving the finish at Lochaber Shinty pitch further & further away - at least it certainly felt that way.
Today Robs once more pushing back the boundaries of aquaculture while I'm basically at home trying to learn to walk again & that is no exaggeration ; my upper body is in position at least 5 seconds before the lower bits even think about the manoeuvre. Which is not just painful but very very odd. We're now very close to the £16k target and we have so many people to thank for their support, good wishes, cash & especially gifts of Vaseline (chaffing !)
All of you should know that we're really proud of your contribution in creating such a vast gift of cash in tribute to Gerard. The money will be specifically targeted at Research into Motor Neurone Disease & so your contribution will help future understanding to assist many people. That so many people across aquaculture & beyond have been involved in this has been terrific & you have our thanks.
Remember donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to contribute: The Motor Neurone Disease Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support throughout the last month.
John & Rob
