I did it!!!!
After 2hrs 2min and 15Secs I can safely say that the stiff legs are worth it!! The official times can be found at www.royalparkshalf.com from Monday 12th Oct
This site will remain open to take donations until January 2010.
A big thanks to everyone who sponsored me and supported me in training to get ready for today and beat my projected time of 2hrs 30min!!!
Why I did it:
In a moment of total madness I have signed up for the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 11th, 2009. I am going to do this to raise funds for The Sussex Beacon (http://www.sussexbeacon.org.uk). They do amazing work for a lot of people (have a look at their website) without any public funding.
I choose them as they helped a close friend of mine back in 2007, shortly before he died in an accident (That’s the Gary of the title and him in the picture here – you don’t really want to see me ;-) ). Gary had intended to raise funds for them with a Bike ride and looking forward to doing so, so it was sad that he was unable to realise his dream.
I’m not really a cyclist, but have enjoyed running on and off for sometime, when Gary died I did a 5k for the Beacon and this fired my interest in running. I joined a running club and the rest is sort of history as they say (dangers of looking up running on the internet LOL).
Thanks for taking the time to read this and for considering sponsoring me – if you do you can rest assured that the funds will go to a great cause that struggles to help so many people.
Thanks again
How it all works: -
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sussex Beacon Limited gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
