Flora London Marathon 2008 · 13 April 2008 ·

At Activity Alliance, we believe that everyone belongs in sport and physical activity. Yet, disabled people remain the least active in our society. Our strategy, We All Belong, drives meaningful change by tackling the biggest challenges disabled people face when trying to be active in sport.

Story

What a rush...I recommend it to you all!

I wanted to thank all of you for your encouragement and especially those of you who donated money to such a wonderful cause and supported me in setting this challenge for myself….I’ve wanted to do a marathon for the last few years now and your contributions forced me to stick to my word and see the challenge through.  Thanks to all of you – including Michi san from Japan as well as Eric and Ben in LA who were so generous in kick-starting my drive to raise the money for these kids.  To all of you who contributed I send you my heartfelt thanks.

I also want to thank my running team mates, Adam Best for getting me the last minute spot on the marathon and helping to facilitate a dream come true and of course Mr. Anthony Devonish, AKA the Sutton Punisher...my unofficial training coach!  Thanks for all the encouragement and advice T.  I could not have done/gone through all of the training and pain without either of these two guys.

I ran for 5hrs 11min during which time I had plenty of time to ask myself what I’d gotten myself into and how I could motivate myself to making sure that I could get to the end. I realized in that time that what would inspire me to the finish line in one piece was being able to tell my Dad that I finished the Marathon.  So I dedicate my run to my Dad who despite his back and leg issues is truly an inspiration not only in terms of fitness but more importantly where my life in general is concerned.  Thanks Pops for the example and the encouragement!

Okay, so next stop… Paris Marathon !  Any takers!?
