Story
During the first week of June 2009 I undertook to run 208 miles from my house in the Scottish Borders to my Mum's house outside of Manchester in 7 days. In the end my running/walking had to stop at Shap in Cumbria after 120 miles due to a sprained foot. Undeterred I borrowed my neighbour's mountain bike and completed the final 88 miles in 1 day.
My aim in all of this was to raise money for the Arthritis Research Campaign. Arthritis is a surprisingly commonplace condition with millions of people living in the UK suffering from the 200 different forms of arthritis. My mum suffers with rheumatoid arthritis and I have watched her cope with this for a number of years. From seeing the effects that rheumatoid arthritis has on my mum, I know it can be a very debilitating disease and it leaves sufferers in great pain. My hope is that I can inspire people to help by donating money to the Arthritis Research Campaign (arc) in response to my efforts.
