Story
SmartestEnergy is entering three teams for the Edinburgh Marathon Hairy Haggis Team Relay, on 23rd May 2010, as part of running4renewables, which aims to help install renewable energy technologies in underdeveloped regions throughout the world.
The running4renewables initiative is trying to raise £35,000 in total for two projects to be implemented by the Koru Foundation: a 20kW micro-hydro system in the isolated village of Ndirire, Mozambique, to power 1200 households, a clinic and a school; and the installation of a mini solar power station to provide sustainable electricity to power 50 homes in an isolated village in central Sierra Leone.
Along with other teams from the renewables industry across the UK, our 12 runners, in 3 teams, will each run a leg of the marathon of between 5 and 8 miles.
Many thanks for you kind donation. Your support for our teams, and for the cause, is greatly appreciated.
