Story

How would you like to do something great this year, raise money for charity, make a load of new friends and get fit into the bargain?

Running for Alfie are really just a group of people brought together mainly by the Rhumba Club Facebook group and our love of loud repetitive music and its associated tomfoolery.

The other thing that we have in common is that the appeal for help for Alfie Sharpe has been brought to our attention and none of us were able to just ignore it.

Please go and read the appeal now before you make any decisions on this.

But we’re looking for more.

There’s no particular criteria needed to join the team. Just a wish to earn money for Alfie and the intention of being able to shamble over the distance of 10 Km or 13.1 Miles by September this year.

On 2 September this year, we will be running in the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon and 10K   (there’s even a smaller kids race for anyone interested in entering their own children)  A proper family day.

We’re looking for 25 members of the team to run at your own pace and probably (given the already members) party kinda hard after the finish.

The aim is to raise £15,000.00 towards the £80,000.00 needed for Alfie’s treatment.

I t won’t stop there though.

We already have our sights on going the whole distance.  It’s just an aim and there’ll be no pressure or commitment to go for it but we’re also hoping to have a team of 10 or so to run the Edinburgh marathon next May, partying even harder after that finishing line and contributing even more to Alfie’s fund.

This isn’t just running for charity. It’s getting together, meeting new people in the true spirit of the acid house scene we’ve been following for so long and raising as much money as we can for a young lad that really needs and deserves it.

Go on. Change a life this year…. Not just Alfie’s but your own!
