Update on the race

I ran the ran yesterday in 2 hours 12 minutes and 22 seconds.  I have 2 big fat blisters and can't move today without wincing (thought it would be better second time round, I don't learn!) but I did beat my Greath North Run time by 3 minutes so can only hope for the same again next time round (wherever that may be.....).  Overall I came:

3092 of 3690 who ran the course

892'nd woman in of 1243 that ran

191 35+ woman in of 271 that ran

Please please please if you have a spare fiver on pay day then consider donating - every penny is used diretly by the team for fuel, clothing, equipment and running expenses.  You never know, one day you may need us!!!!

I am running in the Wilmslow Half Marathon for Kinder Mountain Rescue Team.  I have been a member of the team for over 4 years since moving to the Peak District.  Being a member involves being on standby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in case our services are needed.  Mountain Rescue as a whole receives no central or government funding and is totally reliant upon public donations so anything you can give will help us.

Our team have been very busy recently with all the bad weather (you may have seen us on BBC Breakfast) but aside from that we are called out at all times of day and night to assist people who have got into difficulty on the hill.  Recently we have spent a lot of money on upgrading our team base and now we need to get back in a position where we have enough money to run the team.  This costs around £13,000 a year and covers costs like equipment, fuel, servicing of vehicles, repairs and utility bills.

I am not a 'natural' runner and took it up a year ago when I wanted to get fitter and lose weight after having my 2nd child.  I completed the Great North Run in 2 hrs 15 mins last September after 3 months training so I am hoping to match or better that in March in Wilmslow!

As a team we get support from family and friends who understand when you have to drop everything and dash out on a call-out; can you support us by donating a small amount today?

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
