A great man once said ‘for creature and human alike, to run is to be alive’. How true this is. Think then of the one creature who will never experience the dazzling sensation of the wind rushing through its coarse hair, the soft brush of lycra against its rough inner thigh, the stimulating tingle of a chaffing nipple….yes ,  think of the elephant.

It has come to our attention that the elephant, although second to none in the speed-walking category, is scientifically unable to run. Utterly aghast at this news we decided to take to the track for this magnificent animal.  In all seriousness, in the last one hundred years, Asian elephant populations have plummeted from 200,000 to around 40,000 and the Asian elephant has been classified as endangered on the IUCN Red List for the past 20 years. Its survival is now a matter of urgency.

A team of five of us will be taking on the Royal Parks half marathon on the 11 October and, although many of you have dominated about 37 marathons, naked, with carnival floats strapped to your backs and sprinted over sand dunes for 6 days solid casually losing toes to the cause, we would really appreciate it if you could spare a little cash to help the elephant family.

We will be having a few drinks at the Sun Inn in Barnes afterwards so do come along (if you have sponsored us and we like you) and congratulate us on our awe-inspiring performances. Burrell and Dodson have valiantly volunteered to run wearing nothing but an Anne Summers Elephant poser pouch should we smash the £1000 mark so if the mobility/survival of elephants isn’t enough of a motivator, seeing these spectacular physiques cushioned in fun fur will surely push your charity buttons. Thanks Charlie and Nathan, real team players.
