Story

Yes. The Marathon is over, at last. I managed to do it in 5 hours this year - 25 minutes quicker than last year. I started off really well - apart from arriving at the start late and having to drop my cacks behind a bush for a piss because the toilet queues were too long - and felt fine up to ten miles, then it started to get hard (my poor old legs). Shame about the weather, but I would rather it was wet than too blisteringly hot like last year. Good thing I didn't wear mascara, which I was contemplating in case i got caught on camera. It's so weird how the time flies by when you're out there. One minute you've been running for an hour, then suddenly it's 3 hours and you feel like you're almost there. The miles start dissappearing. You get to13, then 16, then 20 - and then it's almost a home run. So brilliant to see pals at mile 25 - Jacqui, Justine, Stan, Luc, baby Francis, Catherines and Paul - you really helped through the last mile. Good thing this year is that I didn't cry once. I felt far more focussed and prepared for what was ahead, which I guess comes with a bit of experience. You know when you don't need to drink any water, and cut back on the sugar fest of Lucozade (last year I drank too much and threw up in my mouth, nice). Oh, and I overtook the black supermodel from Footballer's Wives. Hah. The crowd were amazing as usual - they get you to the end with a smile on your face - and it really is an incredible achievement that all those people have trained for months and run 26 miles to raise cash for their charities. Which is where you come in... A massive, massive big up to all of you who have sponsored me this year. I have made my target - and I suspect in the next few weeks it will go over - and your support means a lot. Your thoughts and kind pre-Marathon messages were with me all the way, I felt like I was encased in a warm bubble that drove me forwards every time I was feeling the pain. So well done all of you! Right. That's it then. I'm going for a lie-down. Lulu xxx
