Story
Well, we did it !!!! :) and we've raised over £2500 for CAFOD!
The Climate Justice Fairies (Katy Harris, Lucy Hurn, Vikki Mills, Christina Kelling and Clare Lyons) ran the 2009 Great North Run, the world's greatest half-marathon, on 20 September 2009.
Not only did we all run the 13.1mile race on a blisteringly hot day, but we did it in our lovely CAFOD fairy costumes, with wings and tutus intact! Click the photos tab for pics from the day.
THANK YOU all so much for your donations, support, prayers and good wishes along the way.
And we've exceeded our fundraising target which is amazing!!!
Some of the fairies even got to high five Sting at the Newcastle start line (woohoo!) and we were all welcomed at the finish line in South Shields by the Red Arrows and cheering crowds. 54,000 runners took part and the atmosphere was fantastic - it was a real privilege to be there.
It was hard work but knowing that we were raising money for CAFOD kept us all going through the many months of training and on the day itself. We particularly hope we've raised awareness of CAFOD's Climate Justice campaign, which aims to help the world's poorest people overcome the devastating effects of climate change and raise as much money as possible to help CAFOD and its international partners carry out this work. Visit www.cafod.org.uk/climatejustice to find out how you can add your voice to the campaign.
Huge thanks again - we couldn't have done it without you
Katy, Lucy, Vikki, Christina & Clare xx
