Story

On the 17th April 2011 Katty Scaife and Andy Ford are finally getting married ... but only after running 20 miles of the London Marathon. 2011 will be our tenth year together and we always knew we'd never have a traditional wedding!

We have decided to do this not only because we love each other but also to celebrate the memory of Andrew's sister Christina, who we miss everyday since she passed away in April 2008.

We are running to raise money for Saint Francis Hospice who cared for Tina in her last few months. The Hospice gave her the medical care she needed but also gave her a relaxed and comfortable space for family to spend time with her. When you lose someone to cancer there is an awful lot to cope with but we knew when she was in the Hospice she was getting the best care possible.

Anyway, that's the tugging on the heart strings over - this is a celebration of life, ours and Tina's. Tina was a mischevious, fun-lovely person who said the week before she died 'I wish I'd run the London Marathon' - knowing full well that someone would have to do it in her honour!

In place of wedding presents we ask that people donate instead - please give what you can to a wonderful cause.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
