Thank you for coming to our fundraising page. We did it! 4hrs 28mins (no Walking)
Our four year old daughter Polly was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (otherwise known as Juvenile Diabetes) when she was two and a half. We ran the London marathon for Polly and for the 350,000 in the UK alone who suffer from Type 1 diabetes.
· Type 1 diabetes is a life threatening illness
· Polly’s pancreas does not produce insulin, a hormone necessary to sustain life
· Without insulin the glucose (sugar) in the blood can’t be used. It builds up in the blood stream even while the body is starved of energy
· Polly requires daily insulin injections (breakfast, lunch, supper and bedtime) and frequent blood glucose monitoring to stay alive.
Insulin is not a cure. It is only a means of controlling the disease. There is no cure. Even with treatment and insulin, diabetes can cause devastating complications that affect virtually every part of the body.
Please help us some way to raising £10,000 for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) so that hopefully there will be a cure in Polly’s lifetime.
Thank you for your support.
