Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. And thanks again to all our generous sponsors as we draw this effort to a close. We've comfortably exceeded our fundraising goal already.
Job done!
Adrian and I completed our trip, leaving Biarritz (the Atlantic coast) on Saturday 8th Aug and arriving in Coullioure (on the Mediterranean coast) on Thursday 13th. We then went round the coast and down into Spain, finishing in Gerona. This involved over 750km and 10km vertical climb (compared with our estimates of 650km and 8km climb)! This was our own unsupported plan, with logistics ably managed by Adrian, not an organised event!
We're raising money for Pump Aid, who install low-cost well-covers and a low-tech tube pumps in rural villages in Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mocambique. Clean water improves the villagers' quality of life and health prospects substantially, and this is a part of the world we are both very familiar with from our childhood years in Malawi. We have already raised over £600 for this charity in memory of our father Peter, who died last October, so we wanted to continue the theme.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Pump Aid gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please still feel free to contribute, now you know it was more than a plan! My employer, ERM has agreed to donate £500 to our efforts - but this will have to be done directly and not via JustGiving, so forms a chunk of our 'barometer' above!
