I've decided to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy once more, a cause close to my heart through the work I do and the diagnosis of a close family member with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. We can’t do a great deal for him at the moment, but we are determined to raise as much as possible for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign to support those families in need and fund essential research.
As many of you will know, I completed the first London Marathon in 1981 and after a gap of 25 years somehow finished it again in 2005. For last year's run, at the last minute, I foolishly agreed to attempt it wearing the costume of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign mascot - Rupert Bear. It proved a great success and was very enjoyable - honestly! A huge thank you to all my supporters around the UK, abroad and back home in South Wales. This year I am again competing on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and planning to wear the outfit once more. As you can see from the photo (I'm the one in the middle!, flanked by two of my children, Rob & Beth) I should be easy to spot should the BBC aim a camera at me and I remain upright. I've set a target of £5000, far too high I'm sure, but everyone amazed me last year with their generosity so I thought I'd be ambitious - last year's total passed £8000! Please dig deep and sponsor me online (please leave a message – I need all the encouragement I can get!)
