To all of you who sponsored me for the 2007 London Marathon,
A BIG THANK YOU!......................
I raised £16,000 for the Moira Smith Forget Me Not Fund for Leukaemia Research. My employer BP will match at least $5,000 of this through it's matched giving programme.
I completed the London Marathon in 4 hours 30 mins 27 secs beating my target of 5hrs...............4 hours 15mins or even 4 hours is in reach for next time!
It was avery hot day, but I managed to stay hydrated and cooled by taking water at all the drinkstations and passing through the showers enroute! It was a really fantastic day. I got huge support from the crowd and from my family at key points - thanks Elliott, Ross, George, Claire, Graham, Mum & Dad! In fact as the race went on I began to feel stronger and strogner even managing a sprint over the last 600 metres!
As you know I ran the London Marathon this year in memory of my wife Moira who died of Acute Myloid Leukaemia in July 2006.
I got so much more out of this event than just the fundraising - the support in words as well as money has been overwhelming and I have to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for that.
I want to also thank the Banana Army for all the pre- and after-race support including food/drinks and massage - Catherine and the team did a great job!
I am pretty sure I will run another marathon and certainly shorter distance events just to take advantage of the increased fitness level all that training gives you!
Russell.
