So..... we've decided to take on a challenge for 2017.  Or maybe it's more accurate to say Rich hoodwinked me into it.  When he asked if I fancied getting involved in a sponsored 50 mile walk in 24 hours - I said 'yeah sounds great' and got myself signed up straight away.  Only after this did I start realising what I'd let myself in for.  

We went for our first training walk and after a couple of hours, I was tired and thirsty and eagerly turned to Rich to ask how many miles we'd done.  We had done 5 miles.  FIVE MILES!!!  So 10% of what we will be walking on the 30 June.  It suddenly dawned on me then that this won't be a jolly walk with a few pints along the way.  This is going to be about 18-19 hours of solid walking, up and down hills and some of it in the dark.  The real question is which will be harder - completing the walk or not falling out during it.

So come on - sponsor us to test our relationship to the limit.  

Why are we doing this?

We are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire. The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as
Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke.
