Celebrating the wedding of Simon and Ruth, 11 November 2010
Participants: Simon and Ruth

Story

As you might have noticed from the wedding invitation, Ruth has a strange middle name - Leinyuiy.  This was given to her by a pastor in Cameroon, West Africa, where she was born.  From when she was very young, Ruth always had a desire to go back to Africa and so in 2000 she spent a fantastic 8 months working in Uganda.  The Rafiki Trust was set up by some friends that she met when she when she was working there.  It supports local people who can really make a difference in their communities, by giving them educational opportunities that they wouldn't otherwise be able to afford.

About the charity

Rafiki Thabo Foundation works in Kenya, Uganda and Lesotho funding education for students where otherwise fees would make it impossible. No gimmicks, using local contacts and all run by volunteers, it is simply about transforming possibilities into opportunities.
