Story
As I'm sure most of you already know, I'm going in for the kill (as it were) and attempting my first summit of Kilimanjaro in September this year. Standing at 5895m above sea level, it sounds like a bit of headache
but after a years training I'm going to give it a damn good go!
AND SOOOOOOOOO....................
Lets cut to the chase! I am fundraising for a small local Charity called AMANI.
AMANI is a Children's Home Situated at the foot of Kilimanjaro in a town called Moshi, and is dedicated to providing food, shelter and education to homeless and orphanned children in the Kilimanjaro region. It is geared towards street-children i.e those who have either run, or have been thrown out of their homes for a variety of reasons, between the ages of 4-17. Many of these kiddies have been forced to cope by themselves in what is already an impoverished country, and are often subject to abuse from both other street-children and adults! Amani works to provide these children with the essential life skills we take for granted in the UK! It provides an accelerated education system giving them the chance to learn (something many of us moaned about for years
) and become self sufficient so that they can move forward and provide for themselves. Not only this, amani's social workers work to ultimately reunite children with a member of family (if appropriate)!
It is run entirely by volunteers and receive no govermental support or funding and so are totally reliant on donations and fundraising! Sooooooo are a cause very much worthy of a few pennies!!
Anything-no matter how big or small you could spare would be gratefully recieved!!Not only by myself, but by Amani too!
Take a look at www.amanikids.org if u want any further info
Oh and by the way..... My climb is totally self funded so 100% of everything I raise goes straight to AMANI !!!
Thank-you
