UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! I am now in Peru in the Refuge, and it truly is one of the most amazing places in the whole world! All the money donated is definately being put to good use, and everyone appreciates all the donations so very much. My wonderful friends, Mr Stephen McKnight and Mr Arron Parkin, are undertaking the Coast To Coast bike ride, which covers around 140 miles, from Workington in the Lake Distric, all the way to Sunderland. They are doing it soley in aid of Project Peru, so any extra donations for the boys efforts would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking time to visit my page! As part of my degree in Playwork at Leeds Metropolitan University, I have the privilege of going out to South America for 3 months, beginning in February 2008, to do some work for Project Peru, a charity that has its own children’s refuge and also supports community initiatives in the shanty towns surrounding Lima. Project Peru provides food, shelter and support for children and families in some of the most deprived areas of Peru, including its own refuge, and is completely funded through donations and fund raising initiatives. I am going to Peru alone, and will be spending time mainly with the children at the refuge, helping to enhance their play opportunities and learning a lot from them. I will be living on site at the refuge, and will also be doing some work in another shantytown, where they provide support and shelter for women and children. Whilst I am in Peru, I will also be undertaking the Inca Trail, a 45 km 4 day hike through the Andes at altitudes of 4,000 metres. This will be an awesome experience, but I am doing it to raise money for the charity so they can continue their amazing work. The more money we can raise, the more people the Project can help. Further information about the charity can be found at www.projectperu.org.uk It doesn’t matter what you donate, whatever you can afford is great! But please dig deep for a very worth cause!
