Story

I was due to take part in the Himalaya Challenge for Rainbow Trust Children's Charity last summer 2010. It's a charity dear to my heart as I used to work for them many years ago and have continued to support them in whatever way I can. Now that I’m fortunate enough to have 3 happy and thank God, healthy children of my own, their work seems even more poignant. (If you'd like to know more, please visit www.rainbowtrust.org.ukIt was my big Four O in October 2009 and I had planned to participate in this event, instead of having a party or similar. I asked family and friends to sponsor me on my challenge in lieu of presents and hoped to raise as much as possible.

However, 2 weeks before I was due to set off on my amazing adventure, I was diagnosed with Hodgkins' Lymphoma and told that I'd need to begin treatment with chemotherapy as soon as possible. After 6 months of intensive treatment, I'm now in remission and have started trying to rebuild my life and grow some hair! I have also managed to raise some more funds for Rainbow in the meantime but have had to put the challenge on hold for the time being.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Rainbow Trust Children's Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for taking the time to read my fundraising page. Please give whatever you can to help raise much needed funds for this amazing charity.
