Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

26 April 2009 - sprinting to the finish in front of Buckingham Palace!

The whole race was great; but this was the BEST bit.  I finished in 5.40.42.  I had hoped to do better, but now I have plenty of room for improvement - next year!

So many thanks for your support - it really helped get me to the finish. Ruth

24 April 2009 - new picture for those of you who might be watching out for me on the day!  I can confirm I'll be at the start....excited and looking forward to the challenge.

Thanks so much for your support!    Ruth

Hello,

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I’ve decided to celebrate my pending 50th birthday with a little run ... the London Marathon on 26th April. I’d be delighted if you’d support me (financial goals always work for me!) and beat. beat is a portfolio charity of Impetus Trust, a venture philanthropy fund set up by our private equity colleagues in the UK.

beat is the leading UK charity for people with eating disorders and their families. beat is the working name of the Eating Disorders Association, and continues to build on the strong foundations of the past 18 years of its successful work.

Eating disorders are a serious mental illness affecting 1.1 million people in the UK. beat provides helplines for adults and young people, online support and a UK-wide network of self-help groups to help people beat their eating disorder.

beat's vision is simple: Eating Disorders will be Beaten. Check out www.b-eat.co.uk

In lieu of that fabulous 50th birthday present you’ve chosen for me ... please consider a donation on my behalf to beat.

Many thanks for your support. I can’t tell you how much it will help motivate me to achieve this monumental challenge.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: beat gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
