Ryan's Bike Ride · 11 December 2008

Batten disease is a group of rare, progressive neurodegenerative, genetic metabolic diseases that occur in children & adults worldwide. The BDFA's Vision is to be the central point of excellence in the UK for supporting affected families funding research into a potential cure.

Story

We will be cycling a total of 215 miles on the Trans Pennine Trail on 4th June 2009 for around 5 days to raise awareness of Batten Disease and to raise money for the Batten Disease Family Association.

We know about Batten Disease as our nephew Ryan was diagnosed with juvenile Batten Disease at the age of 7. He started to lose his sight at he age of six and is now totally blind. Ryan has now also started having fits and has had a pacemaker fitted to try to control them. Although it maybe too late to help Ryan recover we know that whatever we raise will be valuable to fund family support and the all important research for a cure for Battens Disease.

So thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
