We are a group of fundraisers local to Ryarsh who share a common desire to raise money in order that the Heart of Kent Hospice can continue to provide support to those who need it.
The Heart of Kent Hospice is a registered charity specialising in pallative care for the people of Maidstone and the surrounding local communities. Their specialist team offers skilled care, comfort, compassion and hope to people facing the challenge of terminal illness.
At any one time they support up to 350 patients, plus their families and carers. As a charity the services they offer are free of charge. However, this does mean that of the £3m that it currently costs per year to provide this care, they have to raise £2.2m themselves from the community that they surve.
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales. These are Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon respectively. Different people will take different periods of time to do the 3 peaks. Those who are brave, noble or just plain stupid, try to do all 3 within the space of 24 hours - This is our challenge!
