Story
If you’d like to sponsor a pupil, please include their name in the comments section.
On Wednesday 2 July 2014, the pupils of Rye St Antony School will walk 10 miles in the Oxfordshire countryside to raise £10,000 for Helen & Douglas House. This shared endeavour will unite the whole school, pupils, teaching staff and many keen parents and friends. This event appeals to the team spirit at Rye and enables us to boost our support for Helen and Douglas House.
In addition to the ’10 for £10k’ Challenge, a group of Rye St Antony teachers have decided to support this event by completing the National 3 Peaks Challenge, with the aim of gaining even more sponsorship for Helen & Douglas House.
Rye St Antony has strong links with Helen & Douglas House, which is a pioneering Children’s Hospice in the local area. We have fundraised for them on numerous occasions, and we’re proud to have several pupils who already act as event volunteers for the hospice. We have chosen Helen & Douglas House as the nominated charity for this event, not only because of the relevance that their work holds for our pupils, but also as a fantastic local cause where we hope our sum can make a real difference.
Helen & Douglas House has the time and expertise to care for children and young adults with life-shortening conditions and support their families. The two hospice houses offer specialist symptom and pain management, medically-supported short breaks and end-of-life care, as well as counselling and practical support for the whole family.
Our aim is to help every young person - aged from birth to 35 – who visits us from Oxfordshire and surrounding counties, live life to the full....even when that life is short.
