I will be taking part in the Lanzarote Ironman on 21 May 2011. I will be swimming 3.8km in the sea, jumping on my bike and cycling 180km around the island and then pulling on the running shoes to finish with a 42.2km 'run'. It is claimed to be amongst one of the toughest ironman races on the triathlon calendar and I can't think of a better way to spur me through the event than to know my effort can help a very special cause. My chosen charity is the Thai Children's Trust.
The mission of the Trust is to support the most needy children in Thailand: orphans, children with HIV and AIDS, street kids, refugee children and children with disabilities.
Over 2,500 children rely on the Trust for a home, education, a future, and most of all, for the knowledge that they are loved.
Founded in 1982, TCT has grown into the largest UK charity focusing on Thailand. However, it is still only small. If only we could raise more money, there is so much more that the Trust can do.
Today, with the generosity of people like you, the TCT can continue to provide a safe, loving home, and hope for a better future.
