Sleepout United · 10 April 2015 ·

The Sheffield United Community Foundation is a charity working in the areas of sport participation, education, health and social inclusion. We work to make Sheffield a more active, healthy, educated, respectful and integrated place to live.

Story

A number of members of the S24SU.com forum are joining the approximately 500 people in supporting two local charities in a sponsored "sleepout".

Sleepout United is the first ever sleepout to take place at Bramall Lane, home of Sheffield United FC.

We'd very much appreciate that fellow Blades and readers of the site could consider digging deep where possible and add a donation to the pot. We appreciate that money is tight, but in giving what you can, every little helps!                                                                               On the 10th April, 500 people will be "sleeping rough" inside the stadium for the night to raise money for two very important local charities.

Every penny raised will help Roundabout and St Wilfrid's Centre to support those who need it most.

Organisers of the event, Amy Casbolt, fundraising co-ordinator at Roundabout, and Deb Leonard, development manager at St Wilfrid's Centre, said: "This is a unique opportunity for both charities to work collaboratively with Sheffield United and although 'Sleepout United' is just for one night, we hope that those taking part will gain an appreciation of what it's like to be homeless."

Roundabout provides assistance to more than 150 homeless young people in Sheffield aged 16-25 every day. The charity provides shelter, support and life skills, and offers advice and family mediation for those at risk of losing their home.

St Wilfrid's Centre, located on Queens Road, support homeless, vulnerable and socially excluded adults in Sheffield, providing essential welfare services including food and clothing, together with personal development activities to develop life, social and employability skills.
