SafeHands Walk for Life
Fundraising for SafeHands For Mothers
On Sunday 14th June 2009, a team of 20 dedicated individuals set off for Santiago de Compostela, Spain to begin a testing 132 km walk in support of safe motherhood in Ethiopia. We all arrived in Santiago June 20, to be united with10 extraordinary men and women 'Extremists' who walked and ran the 'Camino' in one day!
This pilgrimage was a physical endurance for all and yet our individual efforts paled in significance to the daily hardships endured by those women for whom life is one of daily physical endurance.
The Funds raised will help SafeHands' vital work in making pregnancy and birth safer. 1 woman dies every minute somewhere in the world due to pregnancy related causes. This harsh reality and the fact that these deaths are largely preventable was the inspiration behind founding the charity SafeHands for Mothers in 2003. Please give generously and remember what it would be like to 'Walk a mile in her shoes'.* Charities pay a small fee for our service. Find out how much it is and what we do for it.
