Story
**Thank you to everyone who supported us in raising money for Imperial College Healthcare. We are thrilled with the amount of money donated, well beyond our fundraising target! The marathon itself was a fantastic day with the sun shining for the whole race and not a spot of rain!**
Thanks for visiting the Safer Communities Directorate Hairy Haggisers fundraising page!
On the 27th May 20 of us from across Safer Communities Directorate will be running in the Edinburgh Marathon Hairy Haggis Relay Challenge as one of 5 relay teams:
Jog-On are: Helen Clifford, Erlend Barclay, Lorna Gibbs, and Stephanie Virlogeux
The Wrong Distance Runners are: Louise Unwin, Kirsty Hamilton, Lisa Taylor, and Liz Sadler
Bland on the Run are: Nick Bland, Christie Smith, Susan Ferguson, and Lesley Cunningham
Regent Road Running Club are: Michael Kellet, Linda Gordon, Noel Rehfisch, and Sean Stronach
The Not So PC Plodders are: Duncan Beamish, Deborah Smith, Ewan Bruce, and Jim Reville
We will be running to raise money for the Imperial College Healthcare Charity (Fund 5101).
All the money we raise will go towards research the charity is funding into the causes, early detection, and treatment of a rare form of liver cancer called cholangiocarcinoma.
This cause is particular close to one of our runners Helen Clifford whose husband Barry Winter died from the disease in 2008. Barry also worked for the Scottish Government, in Communications Directorate. Helen tells us that the idea of her running in the Edinburgh Marathon would have amused Barry to no end - so we think he would definitely approve of us undertaking this particular challenge!
Its a really great cause, which attracts little funding and the team are always extremely grateful for donations.
You'll see from our fundraising target on the right that we're aiming high but with your donation we are confident we can reach our goal!
