My story

Halabja is a town in Northern Iraq. A Kurdish town in it's twentieth
year of recovering from the infamous chemical bombardment by the Iraqi
regime in 1988. During which more than five thousand men women and
children were brutally murdered. A further ten thousand civilians were
horrendously wounded many of whom suffered a slow and terrible death.
Twenty years on and Halabja remains impoverished and neglected by it's
own government and the international community. Children attend school as
best they're economic situation allows. However many children must work to
help the family maintain the basic standard of living. many sell drinks
and snack food by the road sides where they are to often run over and
killed by traffic. Kids play in the streets sometime lined by open sewers
and in the wreckage of bombed buildings. Having visited Halabja twice this
year and proposed a project to build an adventure play ground in the town
to the towns Mayors through the community. It was accepted and land and
planning permission given. With the support of the Kurdish Human Right
Project and Spring Studios in London. We are raising funds to build a safe
and exciting area where kids can play and have something they can own.
