Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online - I have now completed the trek but that DOESN'T MEAN IT'S TOO LATE TO SPONSOR ME!!!
Last year I volunteered for an absolutely spiffing SPW in Tanzania. I spent the five most amazing months living and working in a village with my charming Tanzanian co-volunteer, Vende.
We taught in the primary school, helped set up small income generation projects for groups of local youth and women, and created a community action group out of local young people who were enthusiastic about our work.
They were fantastic and the real heroes of the project, helping us organise community events and sports leagues with neighbouring villages.
Most of the work was aimed at reducing the vulnerability of young people and women to HIV, through non-formal education techniques.
On 5th March I flew to Morocco to take part in a 7-day trek across the Sahara Desert. We were walking for 6-7 hours a day, and returned on 13th. It was pretty tough going and Also, if you're interested in SPW (particularly if you're interested in becoming an SPW volunteer), they can be found at www.spw.org, or you can email me at philhatchuk@yahoo.co.uk with any questions. I'll be happy to attempt to answer them! An article I wrote for my old student paper can be found at http://bwanabomba.blogspot.com/2004/11/redbrick-article-primary-school-event.html and my homepage is at http://uk.geocities.com/philhatchuk An account of my trip will be appearing on my blog very shortly, at http://bwanabomba.blogspot.com ----------------------------------------------------------- Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Students Partnership Worldwide will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
