Charity Registration No 237778
The Sailors’ Society is a national and international charity that operates in over 90 ports across the world to provide practical facilities, welfare, assistance and advice to seafarers and their families whenever and wherever this is needed. Seafarers are a much overlooked group of people in need. More often than not they are travelling for months or weeks without seeing loved ones, the Society provides that vital communication link with home. Our support with shelter, social welfare and financial aid are equally important, as is the friendly face of the Port Chaplain who is the link with the port and valued by every seafarer. We are a non-denominational Christian charity which has been caring for seafarers and their families since 1818. Every year there are hundreds of sinkings, collisions, groundings and fires at sea, but few make the headlines. In many parts the world the possibility of being attacked by bands of armed pirates is a constant threat. Please help us to continue our much needed work.
