IN JULY 2010, A GREAT ADVENTURE BEGINS.

WHERE AND WHEN* IT ENDS IS IN THE LAP OF THE GODS.
(*although we do hope it'll be sometime in September, and in Mongolia at least...)

ALL WE KNOW IS: ONLY THE PENITENT MAN WILL PASS; IN LATIN, JEHOVAH BEGINS WITH AN 'I', AND IT REQUIRES A LEAP OF FAITH FROM THE LION'S HEAD.

THAT'S RIGHT. INDY AND MARION ARE BACK! (and this time, without the dodgy alien-skull-powered spaceship somewhere in the Andes...)

From the flat, wet fens of summertime Cambridge to the deserts of autumnal Ulaan Baatar. GO BETWEEN THEM!? ARE YOU CRAZY!??

THIS IS THE MONGOL RALLY 2010.
And we will endeavour to drive between them - via Berlin? PROBABLY. Via Iran? CERTAINLY. Via Other Strange and Extreme Places which As Yet Remain Nameless? ABSOLUTELY. I say 'endeavour' because it is more than likely that our Ford Fiesta/converted ambulance/motorbike and sidecar will break down, be unfixable and we will have to buy horses to continue. That's all part of the 10,000km of fun, right?

But this is no ordinary MONGOL RALLY.
This is a crack-team of two thirsty for adventure, unbelievably reckless archaeologists with a quest to save the LAST SAKER FALCON. (or at least, to highlight its dramatic decline in the Central Asian breeding grounds - see http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/species/index.html?action=SpcHTMDetails.asp&sid=3619&m=1 for details.

AND WE NEED YOUR HELP! The Mongol Rally will be the adventure of a lifetime. To do it, we need first to raise £1000 for Christina Noble's Children's Foundation, and then  ANOTHER £9000 to support the amazing work of BIRDLIFE INTERNATIONAL (see our other JustGiving page at http://www.justgiving.com/thelastsakerfalcon).

Please give all you can to help us to reach that goal - and to support people and wildlife: TODAY BIRDS, TOMORROW MEN. Watch the epic, dusty, dangerous adventure unfold here: http://www.lastsakerfalcon.co.ukfrom tentative experiments with mechanics and Russian lessons to the rancid yak-milk alcohol-fuelled party in Ulaan Baatar.
