WE DID IT!!!!!! Come on Salford!

On Sunday 7th March 2010 myself, five colleagues from Salford Software and three friends from Weston-super-Mare ran in the Bath Half marathon raising money for Breast Cancer Care. At the time of writing we have already raised over £2,500 for the charity which has been an unbelievable achievement in such a short amount of time.

A great time was had by all, everyone crossed the finish line and achieved their own personal goals along the route.

We made it into the Bath Chronicle race video a few times, all of us pre race and then Tom Newman and Paul Wheeler in the post race interviews, well done lads, sterling effort.

The official race results and times can be found on this page

It was never a race, yeah right, but next time Newman I'll have you :-)

Once again a massive thanks to everyone that has supported us during this wonderful thirteen week journey. We now cross our fingers for the many people close to our hearts that continue their battles with cancer. Massive respect to you all, you know who you are :-)

Cheers
Craig

06/03/10 9am

With just under 26 hours to go everyone is panicking good and proper.

The fundraising total so far is amazing, a massive thanks to everyone that has already shown their support for this wonderful charity. If you are visiting this page for the first time, thanks for getting this far, your now only a few clicks away from showing your support for the 9 Salford Software runners and the wonderful people that work for Breast Cancer Care.

We've got this far without any major injuries, had a few scares along the way, thanks Tom (achilies) and Frazer (body), but we've all made it. Crispin (lungs) is now on 40 lamberts a day and managed to run a few miles the other day too :-)

My money is on the dark horse Paul Bloomfield, if you've not met him, 2nd on the left, looks a bit like Clark Kent :-) He's been on a secret training camp somewhere across the Pennines for the last 13 weeks.

Mike Longman took it easy last weekend with a 33 mile night race; he plans to replace the skin on his feet with gaffer tape so apparently he'll be fine ;-) Next weekend he's putting his feet up with the Silverstone Half for breakfast followed by Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding.

Like a true Business Systems Analyst Paul Wheeler has already finished the race and he won in a record time of -26 hours.

Rob Shepley, well as usual he's sh*tting it, but he'll do us all proud. His training has been superb so he knows he can finish the job with a good time too.

Lisa being the only female in the group has been fantastic, letting the men compete for position whilst she got her head stuck into the training and preparation. She will be just fine I'm sure.

As for me, well I managed to get some sleep last night which was nice. I've been injury free for the last few weeks so hope to beat my PB, but for me this is all about my wonderful friend Jolana who has her own battles to fight. I take my hat off to Jolana who has been quietly getting on with things without once moaning or letting her morale drop one bit. She is a true inspiration to anyone fighting this horrible disease.

Some of the team will be meeting in ASK in Bath at 5pm tonight for the final carb loading meal. Early nights planned for everyone. If you are in the area pop in and wish us well.

Race starts at 11am, we hope to be in the pub a few hours later. If your on facebook get involved

Hello,

With less than two weeks to go I wanted to update our page with some news.

Everyone has been training hard, most people have peaked in their training last weekend, there's been a few injury scares along the way but so far everyone is still intact and buzzing about the big day!!

We managed to hit our minimum fundraising target last week which was a fantastic achievement. We really do hope to smash the target now and raise as much money as possible for this fantastic charity.

Many thanks to all those people that have already sponsored us, the response has been amazing. It really does help to focus the mind knowing there are so many generous people backing our cause.

Watch this space for more photos of the team as we enter the final days of training.

Thanks

Craig

Before you do please bear the following in mind - people who get cancer didn’t choose to, it’s one of life’s lotteries. There are many charities that do good work for Cancer patients and the research to help those who are affected.  One of those charities is Breast Cancer Care.  The fabulous people at Breast Cancer Care need all the financial help they can get to continue to help and support those people that get the dreaded news. People like Jolana from , Lisa’s Mum, Rob’s mate and Paul’s sister who have battled or are battling.

We won’t bore you with sob stories, we hope we made you think again.  You know what to do next.

Thanks for your support

Craig, Lisa, Michael, Rob, Paul W, Frazer, Neil, Tom, Paul B
