Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the London Marathon 2012 for Action Heart, in memory of my dad 'Pop-Pot' (Mike West). Following his heart attack, and subsequent complications, dad spent several years at Action Heart. They gave him the confidence to improve his physical ability as well as provide structure and routine at a time when life was chaotic and uncertian. I have no doubt without their cardiac rehabilitation programmes 'Pop-Pot' would not have seen the birth of his two youngest grandchildren, and a light would have gone out sooner in the hearts of all those who knew him and loved him. I am so greatful to Action Heart for those precious extra years, so am trying to raise as much money as possible to say thank you.
10.9.11 - I am running 3 times averaging 18 miles a week. I got soaked with water guns the local church fete, raising £35.00!! Photos to follow, thank you for your support so far.
26.9.11 - Kinver 10k ran for Action Heart, a PB for me at 52:33!!!! I even ran up some of the dreaded hills!!!(thanks to Pop-pot and Bob on my race number). Am now focusing on a half marathon , and the suicide 6 in november - supporting Action Heart
1.11.11 Fundraising ideas are progressing slowly, bit like my running!!!! So far I have run 12 miles taking 1hour and 54 minutes. My mate James from Kay's butchers has suggested I take my treadmill to his shop and run! Looks like I will be attempting a 20 miler on the tread mill in December!! I will also run at Kinver Country Fayre!.
23.2.12 injury forces two week rest. AAAGGHHH can't believe it,T raining has been going so well - two weeks ago i ran 16 miles in 2 hours 30 mins. All was well, but now it looks like i have posterior shin splints. To maintain my fitness i am cross training and biking, will attempt a short flat run on 30.2.12, if all goes well, i shall build up to 20 miles in 5 weeks time, then taper for the big day.
