Story

(updated 12th October 2011)

Thank you to all who have donated!

Your kindness and generosity kept me going those last few difficult miles and I managed to complete the marathon in 4 hours 23 minutes and 32 seconds!

It was very painful, but worth it to think of the money we have raised for such a good cause.

It is still possible to donate if you wish, and anything would be gratefully received!

I am running the Chester Marathon for Cancer Research.

I'm sure everyone will agree that this is an excellent cause, as almost everyone has been touched by the pain cancer causes in some way.

I am not a 'natural' runner and training for this has not come easily for me! Only a couple of years ago, I couldn't even run more than 100 steps at a time! But, 4 stone and several hundred miles of training later, I'm almost ready to face the 26.2 miles!

I've dedicated the last 4 months to training for it, sacrificing a lot of fun and frolicks (not to mention alcohol!) on the way. I even maintained the programme in the scorching Nevada heat whilst on 'holiday' in Vegas!

I hope you'll support me through this marathon - I'm really going to need an incentive to get through those last few miles, and knowing I can't let everyone who sponsored me down will go a big way to making it possible!
