About our charity : Trees for Cities Trees for Cities
Trees for Cities is an independent charity working to improve the environment in urban areas by involving local people in community tree planting, training and landscaping projects. We manage projects across London, in Brighton, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, the Midlands and Reading as well as internationally in Addis Ababa, Nairobi and Ica, Peru. All our community greening projects are supported by extensive community consultation and involvement programmes that incorporate local residents, schools and community groups. As well as educating local people about our projects, in London we also run a series of horticulture, arboriculture and woodland management courses specialising in developing and up-skilling the long-term unemployed.

Our personal message:

Hello everyone

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

As you may know I am running a half marathon on October 5th 2008 called Run to the Beat in London.  That is 13 miles which is a very long way and right now it feels as if only a miracle will get me from start to finish.  But I am training hard and gradually increasing the miles I can stagger along for.  It would be a great incentive to know that friends and family believed I could do it and would raise money for a wonderful charity.

One of the things I love about Norwich are the beautiful trees that line so many of our city streets.  When I am running my regular circuit up around the UEA lake and into Earlham Park, the part of the run I love best is through the woods.  There is something so inspiring about a good tree.  I like the thought of them being around long after I have shuffled off my mortal coil.

Trees for Cities plants trees all over the world.  And if you sponsored me for the marathon then we'll leave a few more trees in the world for future generations to enjoy.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Trees for Cities gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!  And come and cheer me along the route of Run to the Beat in London on the 5th October.  I will need all the encouragement I can get.

Thanks for your generosity,

Sally-Anne
