Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
On the 6th November 2009 I am travelling to Kalimantan, Borneo to trek over 70km, 35hrs of rough, dense rain forest to raise funds and awareness for the Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS) through WSPA.
The Borneo Orangutan Sanctury offers a safe haven to over 650 orangutans who are orphaned, made homeless or kept as illegal pets due to the massive destruction of the rainforest from illegal logging and palm oil plantations.
This will be a tough challenge for me and very different from just walking the dog round the block, but I can't wait.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: World Society For The Protection Of Animals gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now and stop the orangutan becoming extinct.
Many, many thanks, Sally xx
22 November 2009:-
Well I did it. The challenge was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life! It was very extreme, much harder than any of us ever imagined. I am so proud of what I have achieved.
Visting the Orangutan Sanctury was just amazing. Seeing those poor orphaned juniors was so sad. Even though they were happy, at the end of the day, they were still in a sanctury. They should be free in the rain forest with their mothers doing what orangutans do!! Much more money is needed to release as many as possible on to land that Lone has founght very hard to secure. Please, please , if you can spare just a tiny amount, it will make a big difference!
Thank you and I hope you enjoy the pictures. Sally xx
