Well, I'm now well into the throws of fundraising for Nightingale. I decided to take part in this event even before I started working at Nightingale but having been here for ten months, I feel even more enthused about raising funds for such a worthwhile cause.
I have had an amazing experience so far working at Nightingale. It has been great working alongside the staff who are fantastic in terms of their motivation and commitment. The residents are an incredibly rewarding client group to be working with and I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it is an honour to be working at such a marvellous charity.
I won’t pretend I’m not nervous about the event. I started training for this last year but then things went a bit haywire. For those of you who know me well, you’ll know that exercise isn’t a priority. It was fast becoming a priority up until September last year and then things went awry. The muscle tone department is distinctly lacking as is any element of muscle memory. I do have all the gear though, including wrap around sunglasses and a red glowy thing on my back wheel that lights up in the dark. The glowy thing alone is enough encouragement. But, I know that when I’m cycling up to the Eiffel Tower at the end of the ride on May 6, the sense of achievement and pride will be overwhelming.
Thank you so much for your support.
