Hey; Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I’m doing my first half marathon (13.1 miles!!) on Sunday the 11 of October to raise money for People & Planet.
At the moment I can run 5miles-ish and that takes me an hour! So wish me luck!People & Planet are the largest student network in campaigning to end world poverty, defend human rights and protect the environment. People & Planet support school, college and university students to take action on issues they care about, like climate change. They are at the cutting edge of campaigning working to bring about justice for the world's poorest people. People & Planet has done some amazing things – been part of helping get AIDS treatment to 3 million people, and supported over 70 universities to get Fairtrade status which has massively increased demand for Fairtrade products, improving the lives of farmers and their families in poor countries. Every penny you donate will make a big difference.
People and planet are an organisation close to my heart, they are a unique charity that work by supporting students through democratic process to make the important decisions for each of their campaigns. Empowering thousands of people into action and giving them vital skills and inspiration to continue campaigning after Uni. They have been a great help to me as part of Brookes University People and Planet group. Supplying campaigns packs, each one really well thought through and informative yet not too dense or overwhelming. They are always there at the end of the phone when you need them. Having been to there office on a number of occasions (only 20 or so people in one office run the entire charity) I have been really surprised by there willingness to help in any situation. This friendliness is coupled with an astute professionalism which I think gives them a real edge. Knowing a number of them I know how much overtime they put in and how this doesn’t seem to bother them as they are so dedicated!
Im doing this run partly as a thank you to them for all the support and to help them keep up the amazing work. Thank you for the donations. Every penny will make a difference to them and by donating on this just giving page People and Planet will be getting and extra 25% of what you donate trough “Gift Aid”
