St Barnabas Dalai Lama India Trek · 18 October 2018 to 28 October 2018 ·

St Barnabas House is a hospice based in Worthing which provides palliative care to adults with life-limiting illnesses and their families, both at the hospice and in the comfort of their own home.

Story

From 18-28 October 2018, I will be joining a team of around 50 trekkers for the challenge of a lifetime as we journey to the Tibetan region of Northern India to embark on a 67km trek through the Himalayas.

The trek is organised by St Barnabas House, the charity for which I work and have therefore witnessed the importance of first hand.

I will be participating as a member of staff, which means my place on the trek is free (paid for by Global Adventure Challenges) and therefore every penny I raise will go directly to St Barnabas House, helping the hospice to provide end of life and palliative care for people in Worthing and the surrounding areas.

My year of challenges

I'm aiming to raise £1,000 for St Barnabas House, and for that reason I will be taking on a series of challenges through the next few months in the lead up to the trek.

  1. The Winter Nuts Challenge - on Saturday 3 March I will be risking hypothermia and serious injury (all for a good cause!) when I take on this 7km mud run/obstacle course. Yes, I think I must be nuts!
  2. Firewalk - on Saturday 17 March (St Patrick's Day) I will be walking over red hot embers at Worthing Rugby Club, all in the name of fundraising! What could possibly go wrong?
  3. BM10k - on Sunday 15 April I will be running my first ever 10k race in Brighton to improve my fitness before the trek. I've hardly done any physical activity since before uni, so this is a challenge in itself!
  4. Snowdon Sunset Trek - on Saturday 8 September I will be stepping up my training by trekking up Mount Snowdon! At 1,085 metres Snowdon is the highest mountain in England and Wales.
  5. Dalai Lama India Trek - from 18-28 October I’ll be embarking on an epic journey to India where I will be taking on the Himalayas!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'd be honoured if you would be willing to sponsor me however much you can afford!
