Three years ago, my TV partner-in-crime, Sam and I were commentating on the junior race in the Great North Run for CBBC.
I was struck by the atmosphere the race generated among the runners & supporters. I remember thinking what a massive accomplishment it was for anyone who finished it.
Now that I know what’s involved, I can promise you for me it will be an extra-massive accomplishment!
I know it’s an excellent cause. Christian Aid helps hundreds of thousands of people in many of the world’s poorest countries.
The support you give makes a real difference. For instance, £45 pays for a teacher’s salary for a month. Just £14 can buy someone in school shoes. A tenner will buy a disaster kit for a family affected by floods in .
I can’t wait to see the atmosphere and the buzz of the crowd and I’m really up for meeting the other runners who I know are going to help me through it.
Sam thinks I’m barmy. When I asked him why he wasn’t doing it, he admitted that after about 100 yards, he’d fall flat on his face. He’ll still be there on the day, and so I know he’d want you to sponsor me too.
I’m already in training and have done a few 10k runs, but this is the first time I’ll have done a half-marathon like this. Wish me luck! Even better please, please sponsor me and hope to see some of you on the day!
