On 5th February 2009, myself and 21 other brave (& clearly suicidal) women will be taking part in a 5 day challenge which involves scaling the Cotopaxi volcano (4200m)in the Andes....on horseback!  

"Why?" I hear you all cry.  Well, two reasons really. The first being what better way to conquer two of my biggest fears - heights and horses? The second and most important being to raise much-needed funds for the Blue Cross. I have been lucky enough to see the work of this marvellous organisation first-hand and believe me -  every penny counts.

So the effects of extreme altitude, extreme weather conditions and sheer terror will all be worth it. Plus the torturous weeks of giving up smoking, getting fit, clinging to the back of a horse etc in preparation!  No really, it should be an amazing experience (although not for the poor horse who will be carrying me up, some have suggested)! 

Please give whatever you can spare to help this great cause and to spur me on - in these tough economic times no amount is too small.
