Story

UPDATE: Thank you for all your generous donations so far!

If anyone has anything useful for me to take for the primary and secondary schools out in Tanzania such as colouring pens/pencils, deflated footballs/netballs etc, skipping ropes etc then please let me know ASAP as I'll be taking out as many supplies as I can fit in my rucksack!

This June I'm heading back to Tanzania to trek to the summit of Kilimanjaro with MAD Chief John Lawler, some past Big Brother contestants Zach (Ziggy) Lichman, Anthony Hutton, Liam McGough, Seany O'Kane and friends.

The trek is in aid of MAD Foundation, a great charity set up by the Cheif.  Back in 2007 with MAD I spent 5 wonderful weeks living with a host family whilst helping to build classrooms and teach at a school, helping at an orphanage and assisting at a medical centre in the Rift Valley in Kenya and have been keen to stay involved in the great work that this charity does.

Myself and another student paramedic Cat McMorrow will be attempting the trek. We are personally covering all the trip costs ourselves, so all money donated will go direct to MAD Foundation, and inparticular to the following projects:

Kitting out a Computer Lab and building a Technical Workshop at Shia Secondary School in the Volta Region of Ghana - this will help 3000 people, 70% of whom are under 18, get some vocational training as part of the village's income generation development plan, and;

Renovating and building classrooms at Karunga Primary school in the Rift Valley in Kenya, and kit it out with desks, books and other supplies such as sports equipment.
