First of all, thank you very much to everyone who donated to APEC to sponsor me in the marathon this year. Mile 14 was where it really made a difference - mind over matter is important and having had so many people sponsor me helped my mind to win out and continue on to mile 15, and mile 16, and . . . all the way to the finish line! In all honesty, I really enjoyed the day itself - I just took it at my own pace and took in the surroundings. And I've signed up for next year already ;-)
But I know that's not the reason you're visiting this site, potentially for a second time. We've asked that people who are coming to our party in August don't buy us gifts and if they wish to contribute, we'd really like them to do so by donating to APEC. For those who don't know, this is a charity I feel strongly about, in particular given I know how vulnerable you can feel during pregnancy, even when everything is going well. It's a very small organisation dedicated to supporting families affected by a condition called pre-eclamsia, as well as educating health professionals on the condition. Pre-eclampsia affects pregnant women, causing many symptoms including uncontrollably increasing blood pressure and potential kidney damage. It can occur any time during pregnancy and the only way to cure it is to deliver the baby. In extreme cases it can be fatal for both mother and baby.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Action on Pre-Eclampsia gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
We are really looking forward to August 29th and seeing you all there!
Sam
