We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please try and find some spare pennies to sponsor me!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Diabetes UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Diabetes affects almost three million people in the UK, of which one million do not know they have the condition. I want to help find a cure for this condition which can be life threatening if not kept properly under control.

Diabetes is a condition where the body can't use glucose (sugar) properly. If untreated diabetes can lead to heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness and amputations.

There are two forms of diabetes: Type 1 normally develops in younger people, Type 2 largely affects people over the age of 40 and is the most common form of the condition.

Diabetes has been in my life since I was young, my nan suffered from diabetes and my boyfriend has diabetes, because of the links with diabetes in  my family, there is a chance that I may also get diabetes in later life.

Diabetes UK is one of the leading funders of diabetes research in the UK, spending about 5 million and funding over 200 research projects each year.

I aim to complete the race in under 1 and 1/2 hours and raise at least £500 for Diabetes UK.

So please sponsor me now, because as they say "Every Little Helps!"

Many thanks for your support, it really is appreciated.
