Story
As many of you may know, I have a strong passion for the military. In August, I graduated as a Lieutenant Commander from a three year military program at Culver Academy. When I moved to England I was introduced to Aleck Burrell who was the Commanding Officer of the Royal Marines Lima Company. Lima Company is an elite unit of Royal Marine Commandos that have just returned from Afghanistan. Unfortunately, many men in this unit have been injured and are no longer able to serve as marines.
On September 14, 2012 I “Took the Leap” from the roof of the St. Pancras train station to help raise money for the Royal Marine Charitable Trust Fund. The Royal Marine Charitable Trust Fund has a goal to raise £6 million by the Royal Marines 350th anniversary in 2014. This money will support the wounded and injured soldiers, help their transition into civilian life, help improve the quality of those who are still serving and facing successive tours, and sadly, but importantly, to provide a grant to the next of kin of those who die in service within 48 hours of the event.
