Story

School friends and co-pilots Sam Hoyle, Luke Bennett and Tom Barnfield have been asked to photograph, document and drive with the rust2rome rally setting off from Edinburgh on 1st june. We will be driving the 4000 mile round trip in car costing no more than £250. To find out more about the rally you can go to www.rust2rome.com

Our photos will be used for press coverage, future promotions and our personal websites www.samhoyle.com and www.lukebennettphoto.com where you can keep upto date with our progress from the start of June.

So far we have been donated a car, had our entrance fee waived and have a grant from Napier University lined up. However, we still want your money!

As we'll be taking on a major transport challenge, we wanted to do this to help people facing an even tougher time to get to the right place.

The charity we've chosen (with the help of Sam's brother!) is Project Harar. It does amazing work in Ethiopia helping children with severe facial disfigurements get the surgery they desperately need. The patients come from some of the most isolated areas of eastern Africa, can't afford to travel the long distances and are suffering from things like tumours, cleft lip and palate, hyena attack, and noma - a terrible facial infection.

Project Harar helps the children reach modern hospitals and arranges for specialists to carry out the operations, giving the children the chance of a healthier and happier life for as little as £300. To see more about their work please go to www.projectharar.co.uk

Project Harar provides access to treatment, rehabilitation, and reintegration services in Ethiopia for children and young people with clefts and more complex facial disfigurements. We do this because these children and young people are at risk of stunting, malnutrition, and social exclusion.
